Promotional shirts are frequently used as giveaway items when a new business opens. Usually, the first several hundred people to patronize the business get promotional shirts to take home with them. Other times, promotional shirts are given away during a certain time period, from one day to a month or more. These items are inexpensive to produce and will almost certainly be used by the people who receive them. Too many new companies make the mistake of producing cheap trinket-type promotional items, such as magnets, pocket calendars and window-cling stickers to give to customers. Most people don't use these things and look at them as just more clutter that must be thrown in the trash. This could actually cause those potential customers to look down on a business.
Shirts make a much better statement. When a company gives out promotional shirts decorated with the corporate logo, it shows that the company is willing to make an extra effort to win customers.

It gives a company an air of professionalism and trustworthiness that other, cheaper giveaways cannot. It's relatively inexpensive to have a few hundred shirts embroidered or imprinted with a company logo, but the impression such an shirt makes can be priceless.
